Legacy of the Jedi takes place in the Legacy Era, though it has been modified from the original comics. The Legacy Era takes place roughly 200 years after Rise of Skywalker.
After the defeat of the First Order, the New Republic was formed and governed the galaxy, the remaining First Order loyalists hide in exile.
Rey begins training an apprentice, passing down lessons learned from the texts she took from Ahch-to. Eventually she learns how to create holocrons and passes the information she learned into them. Rey takes on a second apprentice, while her first begins to seek out other Force Sensitive beings to train.
Rey’s apprentices begin to train others, and they eventually form an academy to formalize training and rebuild the Jedi Order.
The Yuuzhan Vong invade and destroy many worlds, causing the New Republic to fracture and collapse.
The galaxy unites against the Vong and eventually defeats them. The Galactic Alliance forms, uniting remnants of the New Republic and the First Order.
The survivors rebuild and the Jedi teachings diverge. Some follow a strict light-side policy similar to the jedi of old, while others teach to balance all sides of the Force.
The remaining Vong settle on a Zonama Sekot and sign a peace treaty with the Galactic Alliance, vowing to help rebuild what they destroyed.
The Galactic Alliance, with the help of the Jedi Order, work with the Vong to terraform planets they once destroyed. Ossus is the first planet to successfully be terraformed, and the Jedi Order establishes their base of operations on Ossus.
Several of the worlds that undergo terraforming suffer from a mysterious disease which ravages the inhabitants of those worlds.
When the disease becomes public knowledge, the galaxy is outraged, blaming the Vong for sabotaging the project. The First Order faction withdraws from the G.A., renaming themselves as the Galactic Empire. Many worlds and sectors secede, flocking to the Galactic Empire for protection.
As the Galactic Empire grows more powerful, conflict between the Galactic Alliance erupts. Both sides suffer defeats and gain victories.
Seemingly out of nowhere a Sith faction emerges, joining with the G.E. The newly empowered Empire is able to push the G.A. out of many territories, including Coruscant.
Admiral Gar Stazi takes control of the G.A. and focuses their forces to oppose the Empire.
The Sith lead an attack on Ossus, killing many Jedi, but are pushed back in defeat. The Emperor, Roan Fel, denounces the attack and is killed by the leader of the SIth faction, Darth Krayt, who demands fealty from the Moff Council and takes over as the new Emperor.
Roan Fel’s loyalists are either killed or flee into hiding.
Most of the worlds between the Core and Mid Rim are controlled by the Galactic Empire.
Ossus remains a bastion of the Jedi Order.
The Galactic Alliance controls most of the Outer Rim and a few Mid Rim territories. They prefer to strike at less protected targets to liberate them from the Empire’s control.
